Weathervanes with Gold Leaf

Any of our weathervanes can be gilded using 23.5 carat gold leaf.  For this weathervane I have just gilded the cardinal points – It’s a very fiddly job but looks fantastic.  I’ve used a coat of primer, an undercoat, then gold size (tacky adhesive) and then finally sheets of gold leaf. They are so delicate that even somebody walking on the other side of the room creates enough draft to damage them.  However, gold is completely resistant to corrosion and should maintain its integrity outdoors for many years, unlike gold paint which is likely to turn  dull quite quickly.
