Owl Weathervane
This page displays our beautifully crafted Tawny Owl Weathervane. Designed for bird and nature enthusiasts, it captures a stunning Tawny Owl in flight, hunting a mouse. Because all of our weathervanes are drawn by hand by a professional artist, we are happy to make design alterations at no extra cost.
The inspiration behind our design
We are lucky to live and work in rural Scotland, surrounded by nature. We can sit in our garden listening to Tawny Owls hooting across the valley at each other, with the occasional unnerving screech from Barn Owls too, so there was no shortage of inspiration when I was asked to create this Owl weathervane. Two years ago, our Volvo was written off by mice having chewed some inaccessible part of its extremely complex wiring loom, so in my mind this design is dedicated to all the Owls out there working to keep our rodent population down!
Gift for Nature Lover
Black Fox Metalcraft’s bird themed weathervanes combine artistry and durability. We are proud of creating gifts for nature lovers that will be enjoyed and appreciated for many years rather than needing to be replaced after two.
After being cut from quality sheet steel, this original weathervane design is TIG welded by a skilled professional at our workshop in the UK. We take the extra time to apply a layer of zinc electroplate because this finish increases the longevity of your metalwork by literally decades in comparison to a non-electroplated weathervane. A tough matt black powdercoat, baked on at 170 degrees, maintains the traditional appearance of wrought ironwork.
Designed and crafted entirely in the UK, Black Fox Metalcraft's weathervanes are all electroplated as standard, meaning their lifespan will be significantly longer than that of a non electroplated version. The matt black powdercoat gives a traditional aesthetic, which because of the high standard of the finish, will be maintained for many years to come. For advice on choosing the most appropriate size of weathervane for your property and the location, have a look at the weathervanes installation page.
