Village Signs

Village Signs

Black Fox Metalcraft specialise in creating bespoke village entrance signs. A unique focal point for locals and visitors alike, a custom village welcome sign adds charm and identity to your village, town or community space; reflecting what the area is known for & promoting a sense of pride amongst residents.

Black Fox Metalcraft are expert village sign makers, and genuinely love the challenge of creating something truly bespoke; village signs are the perfect example of that. We are happy to liaise with community groups and parish councils where multiple opinions need to be considered. This page shows examples of village signs we have created, both very different in the way they were approached, but similar in how they reflect and celebrate the history and heritage of the area in which they stand.

Examples of our work

Cobham, Kent

  • The design is framed by grape vines, with a hopes design in the top corners, and an apple tree ripe for picking in the foreground, reflecting how good the warm southern english climate is for growing fruit.
  • The  ashes urn is depicted, after a Kent cricketer first brought the original to England from australia in the 1880s.

Why choose Black Fox Metalcraft?

All village signs are cut from chunky 3mm steel using a nitrogen shrouded laser, keeping the metal cool and preventing warping. The frame is carefully TIG welded at our workshop (a highly skilled method of welding that produced extremely neat & strong welds), and a fixing bracket is created to your specification. All of Black Fox’s metalwork is electroplated as standard - this zinc coating provides rust proofing and can increase the lifespan of your village sign by literally decades, so we feel it is essential. The black powdercoat is baked on at 170 degrees, giving your village sign a traditional aesthetic & maintaining it’s appearance for many years to come. Your required text is painted by hand by a professional artist in any style of writing or colour you choose.

A typical bespoke village sign can be around 800mm x 1100mm, costing around £1500. We can manufacture bespoke village signs to any size; the price will vary depending on the design, fixing bracket and text required.
