About Us

Black Fox Metalcraft are a family run business based in the scenic Scottish Borders. Both growing up in Manchester, founders Jenny & David originally rented a Victorian workshop on the edge of the Rochdale canal, where they worked for almost 10 years. In 2022 when their tenancy on the old workshop ran out, they fulfilled a dream in relocating the business to a countryside setting.

Meet the Team

Jenny is an artist, blacksmith and TIG welder with a degree in Illustration. She loves trying anything creative & practical, from stained glass work, pyrography, sewing projects or even plastering & tiling. Jenny’s designs at Black Fox Metalcraft are inspired by her love of nature & the outdoors. She enjoys early morning walks with the family’s Border Collie Bryn and will take any opportunity to camp out in the garden and listen to Owls. She was a keen kayaker and beer festival attendee before the twins came along; admittedly these pastimes have fallen by the wayside in recent years! 

 

David is a welder, fabricator and problem solver with a keen interest in motorbikes and classic cars. He enjoys a challenge, and is currently working on fixing up a T25 campervan for an upgrade in family holidays! He loves the countryside as much as Jenny, but would usually rather experience it with the aid of an engine. David is always up for planning an adventure whether it be somewhere new in the UK or into Europe, though much like the kayaking and beer festival attendance, this has been temporarily curtailed. 

Both Jenny and David feel very lucky to be able to equally share the running of the business and bringing up their 4 year old twin daughters, Ada and Imogen. Having a lifestyle where they are able to be there when the girls finish nursery makes any challenges of running a small business worthwhile. In the coming years, the family will be self building a straw bale home on a small riverside plot just outside of Hawick.

Our Story

Black Fox Metalcraft was founded after Jenny and David met during an evening welding course in Salford in 2011. They began by touring agricultural shows across the UK to showcase their work. Over the past 13 years, the business has grown while maintaining its passion for unique designs and the highest quality craftsmanship.
