Our handcrafted metal wall hooks come in 3 or 4-hook designs, each meticulously forged by hand using a coal forge, hammer and anvil. Each hook is forged from 6mm round bar, tapered to a fine point and curled into a rats tail end to avoid snags. Built to last, these hooks are incredibly strong and can easily support multiple heavy coats. Electroplated as standard to resist rust, they are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The durable black powder coat finish ensures these iron coat hooks are tough, long-lasting, and of exceptional quality. We geniunely love making these sets of clothes hooks, especially on a cold winters day!

Why is wrought iron not used?
Our metal coat hooks are made in the style of traditional wrought iron work, but are actually made from steel these days. The material properties of wrought iron and mild steel are incredibly similar (there is a blog post going into more detail on the subject here). Though you can feel the difference when working it on the forge, aesthetically you cannot see the difference in the finished set of coat hooks. Steel is actually stronger as well as being cheaper to produce, but it does corrode more easily, which is why every set of our hand forged coat hooks is electroplated with zinc as standard to prevent rust.
So whilst describing the items on this page as wrought iron coat hooks is technically not correct, wrought iron can refer to the traditional style rather than the exact material used.
