Custom Weathervane Fixings

Certainly not the most exciting blog post I've ever written, but actually a pretty important one. Fixing your weathervane in the best possible way can mean firstly that it functions better, and secondly you may be able to get a better view of it, both meaning you get more enjoyment from it. Which is why we are always happy to produce custom fixings for weathervanes to suit your requirements, usually at no extra cost. We have a range of standard fixings, the most common of which are displayed on our fixings page, however I wanted to make it clear that variations on these are easily available. For the sake of keeping the website fairly simple and user friendly, it's not possible to list them all on the order pages. Below are a few examples of custom fixings we can easily do included in the price of your weathervane. There are many more, but I never think to take photos of the fixings so these are just some we happen to have images of!
1. Gable bracket with 4 holes
This variation on our gable bracket is for when you want to mount to the centre of your barge boards, but they meet in the middle. Having the four holes means you won't have to push it off centre, and it's secure because it's not mounted right on the end of a board.

2. Barge board V shape
For mounting to barge boards where there is not enough space vertically for a gable style bracket. It mounts in four places, and all we need to know here is the pitch of your roof, and we can make the bracket to match.

3. Screw fixing

For when you want to screw directly down into a wooden finial, as shown in the flying pig weathervane photo below!

4. Side plate fixing

For mounting to the gable of a building, where there is no overhang. The pole is welded directly to a square plate, and can have 2 or 4 holes depending on what you need.

5. Our custom fixings extend to signs as well; the photo below shows a double sided sign welded to a bracket that is fixed within a dry stone wall. It's the only one of these we've ever done, but great that we were able to produce exactly what the customer wanted without them having to compromise.

If you think you might need a custom fixing for a weathervane or sign but are not sure what would be the best option, feel free to send an email with a photo of the intended location to jenny@blackfoxmetalcraft.co.uk and we'll be happy to advise.
