This page shows our Citroen Traction Avant weathervane, photographed near our workshop in the Scottish Borders. Gentle lines are cut from the steel profile, highlighting details that make this classic car instantly recognisable. As the light shines through these cut outs, the car is given a 3d effect and brought to life.
The name Traction Avante literally means ‘Front Traction’. ¾ million of this model were produced between 1934 and 1957; they were the first front wheel drive car to be manufactured on this scale. The Traction Avante was also an early pioneer of structural body work, saving weight in avoiding a separate heavy steel chassis. This Traction Avante weathervane would make a great gift for any fan of this innovative classic car!
Quality is at the heart of every Black Fox Metalcraft weathervane. Each arrow is crafted from chunky 8mm steel to provide perfect balance to the sail, while the NSEW letters are made from 5mm steel for a bold appearance. The design allows the sail to pivot gracefully into the wind, so the Traction Avant profile is always protected from taking the brunt of the breeze.
If you're a classic car enthusiast, this weathervane would be a perfect finishing touch for your garage or carport. With Black Fox Metalcraft’s expertly engineered fixings—and the option to request custom brackets at no extra cost—our Traction Avante weathervane can be mounted just about anywhere. Simply send us a photo of the spot you have in mind, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Designed and crafted entirely in the UK, Black Fox Metalcraft's weathervanes are all electroplated as standard, meaning their lifespan will be significantly longer than that of a non electroplated version. The matt black powdercoat gives a traditional aesthetic, which because of the high standard of the finish, will be maintained for many years to come. For advice on choosing the most appropriate size of weathervane for your property and the location, have a look at the weathervanes installation page. For information regarding fixings, please read the fixings information page.
We send out a very occasional newsletter and exclusive discount codes. We don't pass on details, ever.
