Hand forged Dragonfly Hook

Created in our workshop in the Scottish Borders, this hand crafted iron hook measures 15.5 cm wide x 15.5 cm tall. Two 4mm holes are drilled for mounting.

Cut in solid 5 mm steel, this hand forged hook has a feeling of quality in it's weight. It makes a wonderful decorative gift for any nature lover who appreciates quirky, hand made items.

The surface of the metal is textured while red hot using the ball of a hammer, reflecting the delicate lace like pattern of a Dragonfly's wings. The way the light catches the heated steel has an irridescent quality, much like the real thing.

The elegant hook is bent over our anvil. It has enough strength to easily hold several heavy coats, while the rats tail end prevents any snagging.

The whole piece is finished in natural beeswax, applied while the metal is at a black heat, giving the hook it's traditional forged iron colour.
