This Hawk weathervane depicts a bird of prey stood motionless, watching a mouse with its sharp eyes, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The bold, eye catching Hawk profile was carefully designed with functionality in mind - the bird is positioned precisely so that the sail balances front to back, even cutting and re welding the tail so it goes through the bar. The cut outs on the chest and face of the bird appear as if the light is hitting his paler markings, however this is done not just aesthetically, but to ensure that the surface area of the Hawk is at the back of the weathervane sail for the wind to catch and turn the sail effortlessly.
A wonderful gift for anyone who admires birds of prey, this Hawk weathervane is built to last. Black Fox Metalcraft create all of their weathervanes to order, are happy to make design changes at no extra cost, and can design and create fixings to suit any location.
We are lucky to live and work in rural Scotland, surrounded by nature. We see Birds of Prey on a daily basis hovering high above our valley, sometimes perched on top of a telegraph pole surveying the ground for a tasty meal, much like this Hawk weathervane design shows. Three years ago, our car was written off by some inaccessible part of its extremely complex wiring loom having been chewed to bits, so in my mind this design is dedicated to all the birds of prey out there doing their best to keep our troublesome rodent numbers down!
Designed and crafted entirely in the UK, Black Fox Metalcraft's weathervanes are all electroplated as standard, meaning their lifespan will be significantly longer than that of a non electroplated version. The matt black powdercoat gives a traditional aesthetic, which because of the high standard of the finish, will be maintained for many years to come. For advice on choosing the most appropriate size of weathervane for your property and the location, have a look at the weathervanes installation page.
